Previously built by
Cape Dory Yachts and
Handy Boat Service,
we have brought this
fabulous boat
back into production
because we grew up
sailing catboats and
feel there is
nothing better than
sailing a classic
catboat on a warm
summer day.
The Handy Cat is
a gaff-rigged
catboat based on
classic designs that
have been sailing
around New England
for over a century.
Her lines are both
beautiful and
simple. She is shoal
draft and has
classic catboat
stability. Our
version of the Handy
Cat has many
improvements but the
basic hull shape has
stayed the same,
standing the test of
time. She is the
perfect blend of
classic beauty and
modern simplicity.
The Handy Cat 14 has a large
open cockpit with comfortable
seating for four adults.
Constructed here in Maine to the
highest standards of quality she
has a solid fiberglass hull,
spruce spars, all bronze
hardware and bronze fastenings,
mahogany and teak trim and
positive floatation for added
safety. Put simply, the Handy
Cat is a classic sailboat
built with modern,
low-maintenance materials.
Because she is easily trailered
behind a small car, she can be
used just about anywhere you
want to take her.
